Daksu Vice President Nurul Haque called the rape case against Nur and his comrades in arms a bogus case.

Today Tuesday (September 22), the organization announced a protest procession and human chain at 11 am throughout the country, including the National Press Club.

Meanwhile, former Dakshur Vice President Nurul Haque Nur was arrested by the police around 8:30 last night. He was released an hour and a half later and was detained again by the Detective Section (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at around 11:30 pm. He was later released around 1 am.

According to police and related sources, a Dhaka University student brought a case against six people, including Nurul Haque Nur, at the Lalbagh Police Station on Sunday night. Calling it a conspiracy, Nur’s organization, the Bangladesh Student Rights Protection Council, organized a protest rally at the TSC yesterday. While taking the procession from there, there was a riot with the police in the Shahbagh area. Several leaders and activists of the organization and five policemen were injured. At around 8:30 pm, seven members of the group, including Nur, were detained from the procession and taken to the DB office on Minto Road in the capital.

DMP (media and public relations) deputy commissioner Walid Hossain told Kaler Kantha around 9.45pm that they had been arrested on charges of obstructing police work and beating the police. However, Nur was seen at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10:30 pm.

Around 11:35 pm, detectives picked up Nur and one of his members from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The minibus transporting them was stopped by Nur’s supporters when he exited through the medical door. In this regard, DC (DB) of Ramna Division HM Azimul Haque said that Nur already had a small problem with asthma. He was taken to the hospital for this. Responding to a question from the leaders and workers present, he added that everyone, including Nur, would be released.

Another police source said around 1pm that the seven detainees, including Nur, were taken to the DB office on Minto Road. Other detainees along with Nur were later released.

Earlier, around 10 pm, DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam said Nur and others were released on bail because they felt ill at one stage of the interrogation.
