Rotten onion juice equaled by LC in dollars!

Its name is imported onion

Importers are in a good mood after seeing the latest onions from India. Instead of irritating the onion, importers cry when they see the look of the onion sack. They complained that rotten onion juice was being sent instead of their onion in exchange for LCs made from dollars. They are deceived by the government of the neighboring state. Healy importers have already claimed a loss of half a million rupees. Some importers, seeing the miserable state of the onion, urge exporters to save what is available by unloading the products and selling them from the other side.

Such is the condition of the onions coming from India on Saturday

Last Saturday, 11 trucks of Indian onions arrived at the Healy border. However, when these trucks enter Bangladesh through the land border, the stench begins to spread. Importers are now in the process of patting themselves on the forehead as they take them to the warehouse. They see darkness in his eyes as the loss is more than the gain. Importers say it is a raw material, so they assumed that some onion might be lost in the bag during import. However, due to the Indian government’s hasty decision to stop onion exports, more than half of the onions have become unsuitable for sale after being packed in Triple Dhaka trucks for 10 to 12 days. In this case, it won’t be easy to make up the loss if they don’t get the LC they got later. India, meanwhile, did not export onions until midday Sunday and Monday.

A worker looks for something good by removing the rotten onion from the sack.

Healy went to the inland port and saw several workers picking Indian onions from importers’ warehouses. Many bad onions come out of each sack. Even if good onions are picked and reserved, the accumulated amount of bad onions is almost equal to the good ones. There are rumors that rupees 100-200 can be sold per bag, but there is no buyer.

Importers are disappointed to get rotten onions that make LC in dollars

Abdul Khaleq and Sirajul Islam, who came to the Hili land port to buy onions, told the Bengali Tribune that most of the imported onions were rotten and in poor condition. Needless to say, there are no good onions in stores. We also find ourselves in a dilemma over purchasing these onions. At what price will I buy and at what price will I sell! More than half of the onions are rotting in a bag, there is a possibility of losing capital even if you buy them cheaply, the condition of the onions is very bad.

Another person named Siddique Hossain told the Bangla Tribune that he was going home after buying a sack of onion for Rs. Let’s go home, pick these onions, and see how far it goes! Poor folks, so I bought it if a little over 5kg comes off the market hoping for this. However, it is doubtful that 5/6 kg of good onion will come out of a 50 kg bag. It seems that time after time I never cheated again!

Rotten onion is coming Saturday

Another person named Shariful Islam, who came to buy onions, told the Bangla Tribune that some good quality onions were sold yesterday at 40 or 50 Tk per kg. But the price of onion has also risen due to the lack of onion input. It is currently sold at Rs 60 per kg starting at Rs 60 per kg. Many people have good onions in their warehouses, they have stored them. Traders do not sell at lower prices.

Bablur Rahman, an onion importer in the Healy land port, told the Bengali Tribune that India did the same at the same time last year. His wounds have yet to dry on the merchants, who have also carried out similar activities on him this year. We opened LC to import more onions, many onions were also waiting to be loaded and enter the country. However, the Indian government suddenly stopped onion exports as of September 14 and got into trouble again.

Such is the plight of onions in the hasty decision of the Government of India.
“We expected the notice to be issued on Friday,” he said. The glued onions will allow export. Yet they cleverly exported only 11 trucks of tendered onions. My own 23 truckloads of onions were in the Healy parking lot in India, which has gotten so bad there is no need to speak. The condition of the onion has become such that the water drips from the onion, the onion has become absolutely juicy. If the onion is in the truck for 10/12 days, what else will that onion have? But when I saw that they didn’t give permission even on Friday, we put those onions in the warehouses of our exporters. There they are sold at the price of one hundred and fifty to two hundred rupees. Now, what are we going to do with the onions that have been stuck together for so long? We have to give up the invoice, we will lose.
The importer said that the LCs that we have already given, if the government of India gives them and the government of Bangladesh takes action, only this loss can be overcome.

A wholesaler is disappointed to see onions. He couldn't decide how to buy such an onion.

Harun Ur Rashid, Chairman of the Healy Land Port Importers and Exporters Group, told the Bengali Tribune that the condition of 11 onion trucks that arrived last Saturday was very bad. Most of the onions rotted due to being stuck together for several days, the water was dripping from the onions. So we had to throw a lot of onions. Most of the onions had to be sold at low prices, some onions had to be sold for 100 or 200 rupees per bag (50 kg). And some of the selected onions have been sold at a slightly higher price. However, due to such behavior from India, we have had to count the loss of over half a million rupees on these 11 onion trucks. The rest of the onions have not yet shipped. If I send them later, I will probably lose more than 75 percent! It will not be possible to accept such loss. We are putting pressure on the Indian exporters, since we have given you 10,000 tons of LC, you export these onions.

Importers dismayed by the Indian government's deception of money-bought onions.

It is worth mentioning that the Indian government stopped the export of onions as of September 14 without prior notice. After being closed for 5 days in a row, some trucks entered through the ports of Hili, Sonamasjid and Bhomra last Saturday, but the onions were stuck in a Dhaka triple truck for 10 to 12 days from loading to unloading. Importers say they have found between 30 and 50 percent of the onions damaged. Even after that, they are requesting to export the remaining 10,000 tons of onions made LC through this port, including all trucks that transport onions across the border.
