The retired senior secretary of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) was appointed as the new chairman. Sohrab Hossain has taken the oath. He was sworn in by the Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain in the Jazz Lounge of the Supreme Court on Monday (September 21).

Retired Senior Secretary Sohrab Hossain was appointed PSC President on September 18. Dr. Mohammad Sadiq was replaced by Sohrab Hossain.
The president of the PSC is a constitutional position. The president appoints the president in accordance with article 138 (1) of the Constitution. The order states that you will hold the position for the next five years or until you turn 65 (whichever comes first).
Sohrab Hossain was born in 1971 in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali. He is a 1984 group officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Chart. He was appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Undivided Education on December 14, 2015. He became Senior Secretary on January 30 of last year.
Previously, Sohrab Hossain was rector of the BCS Administration Academy. Sohrab has also served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Administration.
His wife Mahmuda Yasmeen is currently a professor in the Department of Microbiology at Dhaka University. Her only daughter is Samara Hossain (Aria).
