India recovered 400 truckloads of onions

Chapainawabganj: India stopped exporting through the port of Sonamasjid and returned 400 truckloads of onions. These onions were tendered.

Onion trucks were taken to the Indian port of Mahdipur for export to Bangladesh.

It is known that out of more than four hundred trucks, only 6 onion trucks were shipped to the port of Sonamasjid. After that, the export stopped.

Traders said that part of the three truckloads of onions was rotten.

Of the more than 400 trucks, 300 on Saturday afternoon (19 September) and then another 100 trucks were removed from the port of Mahdipur.

Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agents Association. Awal told banglanews that although it was not possible to confirm the number of onions that were tendered through the port of Sonamasjid before September 14, the number of onions that were tendered is even higher. But the onions waiting to enter the port are recovering without India.

He added that the onions in several trucks in the Mahdipur port were unloaded at local warehouses for fear that they would rot, but the Indian authorities removed all the remaining onions from the port. As a result, there is no possibility of onion entering Bangladesh through this port.

Traders, meanwhile, have been seen selling most of the onions at the price of water, as only a third of India’s 213 metric tons of onions have rotted. Again, a large quantity of onions had to be discarded due to rotting. Traders have suffered financial losses.

Azizul Islam, the owner of Khadija Enterprise, told banglanews that 10 trucks of onions were supposed to arrive. But I only have two trucks. A third of these onions had to be discarded. Half onions sell for Rs 25-30 / kg and some onions for Rs 35-40 / kg.

Mainul Islam, a port manager for Panama Port Link Limited, which operates the port of Sonamasjid, told banglanews that India exported 213 metric tons of onions in eight trucks showing people through Mahdipur and recalled the remaining onions. The eight onion trucks have been unloaded and shipped from the port with priority.
