Bhomra wastes 80 percent of the onions that pass through the land port

As 80% of the onions from India via the Bhomra land port were destroyed, no new trucks entered. In this context, importers and traders have called on the governments of the two countries to adopt a cooperative attitude towards the victims.

On September 14, a letter from the Indian Foreign Trade halted onion exports. In another foreign trade letter dated September 18, Indian sources at C&F said that the onion would be conditionally exported from September 19. Consequently, 31 onion trucks also entered on Saturday. But most of those onions go to waste.

Mostafizur Rahman Nasim, general secretary of the Bhomra C&F Agents Association, said: “Traders and importers have been making repeated requests. Importers have a moral right to keep stuck onions. But he didn’t say he would give. And 80 percent of what he gave was wasted.

He said, “Onions are perishable, but India can give the rest of the glued onions if she wants.” Otherwise, if they are given later, it will be ruined. That won’t work.

The country’s traders are now frustrated because last year’s onion exports stopped, the Corona epidemic stopped again without warning.
