Mahfuzur Rahman Rifat pleaded guilty to killing two sisters in the central Ganeshpur area of ​​Rangpur city. Judge Delwar Hossain of the Rangpur High Court of Judicial Magistrates recorded his statement on Sunday afternoon (September 20). He was later ordered to be sent to jail.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (Crime) Deputy Commissioner Abu Maruf Hossain said this at a press conference around 8pm on Sunday.

He said that Sumaiya Akter Meem, daughter of Mokshedul Islam from central Ganeshpur area and Jannatul Mawa, daughter of Mominul Islam. It’s about cousins. Rifat is the son of Emdadul Islam from the Babukhan area in the middle of the city.
Although Meem has a long-term love affair with Rifat, there has recently been a conflict.

Last Thursday (September 17), Meem asked Rifat to come to his uncle’s house. That afternoon, Rifat went to his friend Ariful Islam’s home in Lahirirhat and, after consulting with him, opened his used mobile phone and SIM card and contacted Meem with Ariful’s phone and another SIM card.

Meanwhile, Mominul Islam left his daughter Jannatul Mawa at his father-in-law’s home in Kurigram on Thursday to search for his wife. Jannatul Mawa took her cousin Sumaiya to their home to spend the night together. With no one home, Rifat went to Meem’s house that night as planned. Right now there is a physical relationship between them.

The two had a discussion about why Meem communicates with other friends on his Facebook and Messenger. At one point, Rifat got emotional and killed him with a pillow, then wrapped a scarf around his neck and hung it with a fan.

Later on leaving, Jannatul Mawa noticed him and after killing him, hit him on the neck with a broken glass from the mirror and left him on the ground. Later that night, Rifat went to his friend Ariful’s house, changed his phone and SIM card, and went home the next day. On Friday (September 18), around 12:30 pm, Sumaiya’s mother opened the door of the house and saw their bodies dumped inside. Later, the police recovered the body from the scene.

Mominul Islam, father of the murdered Jannatul Mawa, filed a murder case with the Kotwali Police Station of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police on Saturday (September 19).

Police arrested Rifat on suspicion of involvement in the murder, including collecting multiple leads from the scene. Subsequently, based on the information provided by him, Ariful’s victim’s phone was recovered. Rifat was brought to court on Sunday afternoon after admitting to being involved in the murder during preliminary questioning.
