As a result, Babungari lost the position of deputy director on June 16. Shafi’s supporters survived, but he stayed.
Hundreds of students suddenly began protesting Wednesday when the madrassa reopened after being closed for about six months amid the coronavirus epidemic. Shafi also destroyed several rooms demanding the release of his son and the expulsion of Anas Madani, deputy director of the madrasah.
Subsequently, Anas Madani was relieved of all positions, including that of deputy director (education) of the madrasa at the committee meeting of the shura madrasa. And Muhtamim Ahmad Shafi left his post and was admitted to the hospital.
He could not be rescued even after he was taken to Dhaka by helicopter on Friday. He was buried in the Madrasa facility on the Saturday after Janaza in the presence of thousands of followers.

Meanwhile, a request was made from the Shura meeting on Saturday to withdraw the government-issued order to close Hathazari Madrasa last Wednesday due to student protests.
