Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi (UN) Officer Wahida Khanam from Dinajpur has been transferred from her workplace, Ghoraghat. Her husband Mejbaul Hossain, UN of Pirganj in Rangpur, has also been transferred.
Sources said that Wahida Khanam, an officer of Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi (UN), has been transferred as a special officer in charge of the Ministry of Public Administration and that her husband, the UN, Mohammad Mezbaul Hossain, from Pirganj in Rangpur, has been transferred as Senior Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Health in Dhaka.
The decision was made in a notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Service on Thursday, the source said.
On the night of September 2, criminals entered UNO Wahida Khanam’s official residence in Ghoraghat and attacked UNO Wahida Khanam and his father, freedom fighter Omar Ali Sheikh (70) with a hammer. Wahida Khanam is currently in treatment at the National Neuroscience Institute and Hospital in Agargaon, Dhaka, after sustaining serious injuries. Mali Rabiul Islam, who was suspended from the residence of UNO Wahida Khanam, the investigating officer in the latest police case, has been twice sent by the court after his arrest. The second phase of the 3-day preventive detention will end on Sunday.
At least 30 people have been arrested so far in the case. Most were released at the end of the interrogation. At the end of the 7-day preventive detention, Asadul, Nabirul and Santu are in jail.
