BCB Executive Director Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan said: Craig told us that his father had recently died. It will not be possible for him to assume the role of hitting advisor to the Bangladesh team at this time of duel. We understand your situation. I offer my condolences to him and his family at this difficult time.

The former New Zealand cricketer has long been the hitting coach for the New Zealand national team. With Macmillan, New Zealand reached the finals of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. After the 2019 World Cup, they did not work with the Kiwis.

Before the tour of Sri Lanka, the BCB was looking for a new test hitting coach. Then limited overs hitting coach Neil McKenzie resigned. The BCB then appointed Macmillan as the Bangladesh team’s hitting coach or mentor for the Sri Lanka tour. Although there is still uncertainty about the Sri Lanka tour, he would soon set foot in Bangladesh to work with the team. However, after losing his father, Katar Macmillan was forced to announce the end of the show – he is not working with the Bangladesh team under the deal.
