Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Muksudpur in Gopalganj. The accident took place near the Muksudpur College crossing at around 10:30 pm on Friday (September 18). Said the Muksudpur Police Officer in Charge (OC). Azizur Rahman has confirmed the matter.
The deceased was identified as Liakat Hossain, 30, the son of the late Atiyar Rahman from the village of Chandivardi in Muksudpur upazila, Faisal Sardar, 32, the son of Wahidul Haque Sardar from the village of Dakshin Chandipur and Al Amin Tagore, from 24 years old, son of Billal Tagore from the village of Paschim Gopinathpur in Sapazila. The three dead were motorcyclists.
Witnesses said that a Golden Line Paribahan night bus bound for Dhaka, which had departed from Gopalganj Sadar, collided head-on with a motorcycle near the Muksudpur College junction. At that time, the motorcycle got under the bus and after passing the Muksudpur police station and reaching the Saltha area, the bus caught fire. A motorcyclist was killed instantly after the collision. Another died on the way to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex and another died on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Said the Muksudpur Police Officer in Charge (OC). Azizur Rahman said that immediately after the accident, a unit of firefighters went to the scene and quickly controlled the bus and evacuated the passengers safely. The bus driver, bus aide and supervisor escaped and could not be detained. The deadly bus is currently in the custody of the broken highway police.
