He said the decision was made to deploy 10 BGB platoons to Chittagong from Saturday morning to control the situation after the death of Amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi of Hifazat-e-Islam and to complete his janaza properly. Of these, 4 platoons will be deployed in Hathazari, 2 in Patiya, 2 in Rangunia and 2 in Fatikchhari. BGB members, led by executive magistrates, will assist law enforcement.
Previously, he breathed his last at 6:30 pm on Friday (September 18) while undergoing treatment at the Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital.
According to the decision of the Hathazari Madrasa Shura Committee, Janaza will be held on the Hathazari Madrasa ground at 2 pm after the Johar prayers. Her son Anas Madani will lead the janaza. It has been decided to keep Allama Shafi’s body for public view in the Kanyauddakayek classroom of Hathazari Madrasa from the Fajr prayers to Johar. After Janaza, the body will be buried in the cemetery in front of the Baitul Atiq Jame mosque within the Madrasa campus.
Meanwhile, Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi suffered from various physical problems for a long time due to his old age. In recent years, he has been treated in national and foreign hospitals on several occasions.
Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi fell ill on Thursday (September 18). A fire service ambulance took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC) around 12 p.m.
Allama Shafi, who was in the ICU of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC), was transferred to Dhaka by air ambulance and admitted to Azgar Ali Hospital on Friday evening.
He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there. Allama Ahmad Shafi, about 105 years old, suffered from geriatric weakness, diabetes, high blood pressure and shortness of breath for a long time.
