The driver and his assistant have been arrested for raping a young woman by closing the doors and windows of a bus in the Paduar Bazar de Comilla. However, the supervisor is still at large.
The two detainees have been sent to jail by a court yesterday in search of a seven-day preventive detention.
The victim was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital (CMC) for medical treatment. He was later placed on remand by his mother on Wednesday night.
According to the victim’s family and the details of the case, the girl went to her cousin’s home in Abdullahpur, Dhaka on September 11. On September 14, she left her sister’s house to return home. From there it reaches the Sayedabad bus terminal in Dhaka. Around 11:30 pm that day, a Tisha Plus bus left the Sayedabad bus terminal for Shasnagachha in Comilla. The bus crews told him they would leave him. However, the bus driver did not take the girl to the Shasnagachha bus stop and took her to the Paduar Bazar Bishbrod area.
According to the case, the driver, assistant and supervisor closed the doors and windows of the bus around 4 am on Tuesday and raped the girl in various ways. Later, the bus driver got out and left. The assistant and the supervisor then took the girl off the bus and took her to the assistant’s house in the Paduar market area and raped her again. Later, around 8 in the morning, they took the sick girl out of the house and told her to leave. The victim later told her mother about the incident on her mobile phone.
The victim’s mother arrived in the Paduar Bazar Bishbrod area around 2 pm Tuesday and collected the names and addresses of the defendants. She then filed a case of gang rape against three people at the Comilla Sadar Sur Model Police Station that same night.
The victim’s mother said: ‘My daughter used to work in a garment factory in Gazipur. Corona moved home five months ago. Last Friday she went to Dhaka from her home in search of work and went to her cousin’s house. On the way back home from there, she was the victim of such a cruel incident. I demand exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
Bimal Dey, director of Tisha Plus Transport, told reporters at noon yesterday, “Dulal Hossain Apu, managing director (MD) of transportation, owns the bus on which the incident occurred.” However, we demand severe punishment for those who caused this incident.
Dulal Hossain Apu, MD of Transportation, told reporters: “We turned over the driver and his assistant to the police after discovering that the driver, assistant and supervisor of Dhaka Metro-B 15-397 had caused such an incident.”
The Comilla Sadar Sur Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) and Investigating Officer on the case, Kamal Krishna Dhar, told reporters that the bus driver and his assistant were arrested in the incident. An attempt is being made to arrest the other defendant in the case.
