At the news of the death of Maulana Ahmad Shafi, the Emir of Hifazat-e-Islam, his followers, fans and angry students of the madrasa are chanting slogans at the Azgar Ali Hospital in the capital. They protested in front of the hospital on Friday (September 18) from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. From there, a leader of the Alliance of Islamic Unity said this.
He died of old age on Friday (September 18) around 6.30pm. As soon as news of Ahmed Shafi’s death spread, his followers began to crowd in front of the hospital. Scholars from Dhaka also rushed to the hospital with the news of his death.
A witness said that after Ahmad Shafi’s death, some madrassa scholars, students and imams in Dhaka blamed the last three days of protests in Hathazari Madrasa for his death. However, some academics have spoken out urging people not to express different opinions on the subject. Some of the supporters present demanded the national funeral and burial of Ahmed Shafi. Hefazat general secretary Junaid Babungari was also seen chanting slogans demanding that some people not participate in the janaza, several academics said.
It can be mentioned that Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi resigned from the post of General Director of Hathazari Darul Uloom Madrasa on Thursday in the face of student protests. They gave him the post of Muhtamim in the Majlis. The decision was made at the second meeting of the Shura Committee in Madrasa Majlis around 8:30 pm on Thursday (September 18) in the wake of student protests that began at noon on Wednesday. Furthermore, his son Anas Madani was also permanently expelled from the madrasa at that meeting.
Meanwhile, Farah Noor, director (medical services) of Azgar Ali Hospital, was contacted and told the Bengali Tribune: “Your son Maulana Anas Madani will speak to the media about the death of his father. It will not be possible to say anything about this from the hospital now.
