Al-Jamiatul Tahlima Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong District has been declared closed until further orders due to non-compliance with imposed conditions.
The Department of Technical Education and Madrasa of the Ministry of Education issued an order in this regard Thursday night.
The order of the Ministry of Education stated: “In response to the Qawmi Madrasas demand, on August 24, under certain conditions related to compliance with hygiene standards, the activities of the Qawmi Madrasas Book Department were initiated and permission to take exams. ” The technical department of education of the madrasa decided to close the institution for violating the conditions imposed by the institution.
Meanwhile, Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi resigned as CEO of the country’s largest madrasa in the face of massive student protests. Students began protesting Wednesday afternoon demanding his resignation. In view of this, Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi resigned at the Majlis Shura meeting around 10:30 pm on Thursday.
Majlis Shura member Allama Salauddin Nanupuri confirmed Allama Shafi’s resignation to reporters. He said that Allama Ahmad Shafi had resigned due to illness. He has handed over the responsibility of the director general to the Majlis Shura. The members of Shura will decide on the next CEO. Previously, Anas Madani, the son of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, was also relieved of his duties as a madrasa teacher due to the demands of students.
