Dhaka: The government has declared the Darul Uloom Moinul Islam madrasa in Hathazari of Chittagong closed until conditions are duly met.
On Thursday (September 18) the Technical and Madrasa Division of the Ministry of Education issued an order to this effect.
He said that the Al-Jamiatul Tahlima Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong District has been declared closed until the conditions imposed are not properly met.
Students gathered at the madrassa premises on Wednesday (September 18) to demand the expulsion of Anas Madani, son of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, general director of Hathazari Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Madrasa and Amir of Hifazat-e-Islam. At one point, the protesters took up positions on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari road in front of the madrasa. Later, the police took them off the road and put them inside the madrassa.
In accordance with the order of the Department of Technical Education and Madrasa, conditional permission was granted on August 24 to start the activities of the Book Department of the Qawmi Madrasas and to take exams. But the conditions imposed were not duly met and the madrassa was declared closed until it was rearranged. ‘
