Once again, the students of Hathazari Madrasa have started a movement. As the students’ demands were not met at 11:30 am on Thursday, they took up their position on the madrasa grounds. Ordinary students were also asked to join the movement through microphones. On the other hand, numerous members of the security forces have been seen on alert in the vicinity of Jamia.

The protesters smashed the doors of the rooms of all the senior teachers of the madrasa and looted them. Islam Jadid, Maulana Osman, Mufti Abu Saeed, Maulana Aziz Taki, Maulana Ishaq, Maulana Tariq, Maulana Bashir’s room was attacked.

Upon receiving the news of the movement and the attack, members of the Magistrate, Police, RAB and other intelligence agencies from Upazila Nirbahi rushed to the madrasa but the protesters closed all the doors of the madrasa and were unable to enter. At that time, the madrasa students were repeatedly miking to prevent any member of the administration from entering the madrasa. Currently, the situation around the madrasa is tense.

It is worth mentioning that students began protesting in Hathazari Madrasa from noon on Wednesday demanding the expulsion of Maulana Anas Madani. Later that night, a shura meeting chaired by Allama Ahmad Shafi, general director of the madrasa, called for the permanent dismissal of madrasa teacher Maulana Anas Madani, son of Allama Ahmad Shafi, general director of the institution. A total of three decisions were made on Saturday, including a full call from Shura. In this context, the student movement was suspended until Saturday, but the boycott of classes will continue, the agitated students said.
