The Parliament House of India will be renovated. Tata Projects Limited is responsible for this project. According to Indian media reports, the company has won the lowest tender of around Tk 62 crore for the construction of the new parliament building.
In this regard, Tata has been informed that work on this project must be completed within 20-21 months after receipt of the work order. However, not only the Tata group, but also seven companies, including Larsen & Toubro, Sapurji, submitted bids for the project.
But in the end, the Tata group obtained authorization to do the project with the lowest bid. The maximum cost for this project was estimated at Rs 940 crore.
The final decision was announced by the Union’s Ministry of Public Works on Wednesday. The new parliament building will be next to the current parliament building. However, as the current parliament building is round, the new building will be triangular. There will be 900 to 1200 deputies in parliament. Central Vista will cover three kilometers from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.
But in this economic situation in the country, why is the new parliament building being formed? In this regard, officials from the Public Works Department said, the current parliament building is in need of a renovation. After the renovation, the old building will be used for other purposes.
Earlier this year, the central government decided to build a new parliament building. However, the government at the time argued that the current building structure was built during the British period. As a result, it has not been maintained for a long time, so this building needs to be renovated.
However, the controversy over the new parliament building has not abated. Opposition parties have questioned why Gujarat architect Bimal Patel was given the responsibility of designing the new parliament building without a tender.
The central government has agreed to pay Rs 230 million as consulting fees to Bimal Patel’s HCP company for the design. Opponents also questioned how the amount of money was determined. Opposition groups called for a boycott of the by-elections in protest of the decision.
The opposition claimed that the design of the new parliament building had been entrusted to Bimal Patel, a construction entrepreneur from Gerua Shibir’s ‘beloved’ Gujarat, without calling for a global tender. Initially, 6 private companies were selected for responsibility. But in the end, the responsibility fell on Bimal Patel’s ‘HCP Design’ company.
The construction of the new parliament building should be completed by 2022. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has set the date to make this new story. The probable opening date of the new parliament building has also been set for January 26, 2022.
On the day of Republic Day, the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, the highest levels of government have stepped up to ensure that Prime Minister Modi inaugurates the new parliament building.
