Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent (SP) ABM Masud Hossain, who was controversially involved in the murder of Commander Sinha, has finally been transferred. His new workplace is the Rajshahi district. However, Jhenaidah District Police Superintendent (SP) Mohammad Hasanuzzaman will replace him as the new SP in Cox’s Bazar.
The transfer was ordered in a circular signed by Undersecretary Dhananjay Kumar Das on Wednesday (September 18). According to the order, six high-ranking police officers have been transferred to different parts of the country. Sharmin Ferdous, the plaintiff in the case, demanded that SP Masud be questioned for a trial like the Sinha murder case.
According to the information, on the night of July 31, the retired major of the Sinha army. After Rashed Khan’s murder, a phone conversation between OC Pradeep and SP Masud went viral on social media and SP ABM Masud Hossain took part in the discussion. Later on September 10, Sinha’s killer lawyer said. Mostafa alleged at a news conference that SP Sinha of Cox’s Bazar was obstructing the investigation of the murder case. SP Masud had written to the Cox’s Bazar prison authorities to arrange for the division of the prison for the main defendant OC Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liaquat. The lawyer alleged that SP Masud Hossain was abusing his governing power on behalf of the accused.
On the same day, SP Masood mentioned 10 specific points of government abuse of power in his chair and requested to include him as a defendant in the case of the murder of Major Sinha. Cox’s Bazar Superior Judicial Magistrate (Cox’s Bazar Sadar-4) Tamanna Farah’s appeal was heard around 12 noon.

On Wednesday (September 17), the Interior Ministry also ordered the transfer of the controversial Cox’s Bazar SP Masud to Rajshahi along with other officials.
On the night of July 31, the police shot and killed Sinha at the Baharchhara checkpoint near Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. Sinha’s sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, filed a case against nine people in Cox’s Bazar Magistrates Court on August 5 for the incident. Inspector Baharchhara Investigation Center Liaquat Ali was named Defendant No. 1 and Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das was named Defendant No. 2.
After the case, seven policemen, including OC Pradeep, surrendered to court on August 8. The other two defendants are fugitives. There are currently 14 people, including the co-defendant in the case. The case is being investigated by RAB. They have detained 13 defendants in the case for various periods and interrogated them. So far, 12 defendants in the case have given confessional statements under section 164 in court. However, one of the accused, OC Pradeep, was in preventive detention for a maximum of 15 days but did not give a confessional statement.
In response to the transfer of the Superintendent of Police, Sinha’s murder plaintiff Sharmin Ferdous said: ‘My father was also a government official. Transferable government work. He (SP Masuder) can also be transferred. But our demand was to include him in the list of defendants and question him to verify the accusations against him. Wherever I go, our demands for justice will continue to flow.
Meanwhile, a high-level investigative committee formed by the Interior Ministry into Sinha’s murder presented its report on Monday (September 8). However, the ministry has yet to reveal the content of the report.
