According to customs and port sources, of the 1,465 metric tons of hilsa pledged for the bid, 198.9 metric tons of hilsa fish have been exported to India in the last three days. The 93.8 metric ton shipment of hilsa entered the Indian port of Petrapole on Wednesday after customs and port formalities. Earlier, 41.3 metric tons of hilsa were exported to India on Monday and 63 metric tons on Tuesday. Ripa Enterprise in Dhaka and Jahanabad Sea Fish Limited in Khulna were the exporters of Hilsa’s shipment on Wednesday.
The export price per kg of hilsa has been set at Rs 600 per US $ 10. Each hilsa exported at this price weighed from one kg to 1200 grams.
Mahbubur Rahman, deputy director of the fisheries department and fisheries quarantine officer in Benapole, said the Commerce Ministry had this time allowed nine exporters to ship a total of 1,465 tonnes of hilsa to India. Hilsa fish worth a total of one lakh 20 thousand US dollars will be exported to India at a price of 10 US dollars per kg. This year, a total of 1,465 metric tons of hilsa fish will be exported to India.
