Police arrested a young man accused of attempting to rob a bank at the Chandna crossing in Gazipur. Although the young man’s name was Abu Bakr (30), the police could not reveal his details. The incident took place at Prime Bank Limited at Shapla Mansion in Chandna Crossroads around 12:15 pm on Wednesday.
The bank security personnel said. Shamim said a young man entered manager Farid Ahmed’s room with a bag at the Joydebpur junction branch of Prime Bank around noon today. He later had a bomb in his bag and demanded a large sum of money from him for fear of an explosion. The threat of a bomb explosion sent shockwaves through the bank. The young man was kept inside the bank and the police were informed and the police rushed to the scene.
Acting Commissioner of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police. Azad Mia said police arrested the young man and took the bag from him. Basan police took him away. The bomb disposal team in Dhaka was then informed. The bag contained a proprietary improvised device (IED). Additional Superintendent of Police of the Dhaka City Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTTC) around 3:15 pm. An 11-member team led by Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury arrived at the bank. After the inspection, the bomb was detonated in the bag in front of Shapla Mansion.

Meanwhile, the bank manager refused to comment with reporters about the incident.
