Dhaka: Even amid the Corona epidemic, the number of new millionaires in the country has increased. In the three months from March to June, the number of millionaire depositors in the bank has risen to 3,412.
This information has been made known from the Bangladesh Bank report. According to the report, at the end of last June, the number of millionaire depositors in the banking sector stood at 6,036. At the end of March, the figure was 72,625.
According to banking sources, the number of millionaires in the bank has decreased since the anti-casino campaign began on September 16, 2019. Then, on September 30, the number of millionaire depositors decreased to 69,006. But from March this year to June (Corona) this number increased suddenly.
According to the data, the number of millionaire depositors has increased by 5,841 in the last year. Of these, 3,412 have increased during the coronation period. However, due to Corona, the income of many families in the country has decreased.
According to a webinar organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), household income in the country has decreased by 72.6 percent due to the crown. These families have an annual income of less than Tk 1 lakh, they are the ones that have suffered the most.
According to Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Bangladesh, the income of the common man has decreased in the situation of Corona. But the income of the great or rich people has increased. The increase in the number of millionaire depositors in banks is proof of this.
He told reporters that the number of millionaires has also increased during the Crown period, as billions of people in the country have become destitute. A class stolen from a bank has millions of rupees. Again, they may be keeping money in the bank.
