The sentence of BNP President Begum Khaleda Zia was extended for another six months, on Tuesday the Security Services Division of the Interior Ministry issued a notification. Khaleda Zia’s sentence was suspended on March 25 by executive order of the government. Which will expire on September 24. Earlier, Khaleda Zia’s family requested an extension of the sentence.
In this regard, Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had recently approved the request of Khaleda Zia’s family. Previously, the Ministry of Justice had also recommended a six-month extension. Due to Corona, Khaleda Zia’s family has not been able to arrange any treatment for her for the past six months. In view of this, her sentence has been extended for six months.
On September 3, the Ministry of Justice recommended extending Khaleda Zia’s release for six months. On February 8, 2016, Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years in prison in a corruption case of the Zia Orphanage Trust.
Khaleda Zia is not yet completely free: Mirza Fakhrul
