A fifth grade girl was found to be six months pregnant in the rape of a cousin in Wazirpur, Barisal. This has caused a stir throughout the area and a storm of condemnation is unleashing. The family of the girl who became pregnant in the rape assures that the uncle of the distant relative from the same house showed fear and various temptations and raped the student more than once and she became pregnant. However, out of public embarrassment, they did not take the matter to the police and resolved it on their own.
But locals say there should be exemplary punishment for such incidents. They demanded that the defendants be severely punished by law after a proper investigation.
According to the victim’s family sources, Aminul Khan, 22, son of Karim Khan from Mugakathi village in Bamrail, union of the Upazila, has been charged. The child victim is the daughter of Aminul Khan’s cousin from the same household. Recently, when the family became suspicious after seeing the physical condition of the girl, her pregnancy was detected. The student boy then recounted the entire incident to locals, including his family.
The mother of the child victim said that the accused was her cousin over Aminul. So both families have settled the matter between themselves without filing a case with the police.
However, he was unable to give a satisfactory answer when asked about the deal.
Said Wazirpur Model Police OC. Ziaul Ahsan said no such incident has yet been reported. If the child’s family files a complaint, the necessary legal action will be taken.
