The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), an organization of Muslim intellectuals, has condemned the agreement to normalize Bahrain’s relations with Israel.
Ali al-Qaradagi, general secretary of the Qatar-based group, criticized the normalization of relations between Israel and Bahrain, calling it “treason.”
Al-Qaradagi tweeted: ‘How can a person deny their rights? At the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the holy land of Palestine, can the Palestinian people and all Muslims be denied their rights?
“Recent events demand that we support the Palestinians to the best of our ability,” he said. In another tweet, al-Qaradagi said that the agreement between the UAE and Bahrain with Israel was a prelude to an upcoming agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Bahrain is the fourth Arab country to establish relations with Israel. Previously, Arab countries established relations with Egypt in 1979, Jordan in 1994, and the United Arab Emirates in August 2020.
