Police arrested four people, including teachers Hafez Ibrahim Mia and Hafeez Obaidullah, for torturing two children at a madrasa in Ashulia in Dhaka. They were arrested in the Madanertech area of Natunnagar in Ashulia’s Sreepur on Monday night.

In the video, teacher Ibrahim Mia (33) is torturing student Rakib Hossain (9) by binding his hands and feet in front of other students at Jabale Noor Madrasa in Madunertech area of Natunnagar, Sreepur, Ashulia on September 11. At that moment, another student named Mahfuzur Rahman was seen with his arms and legs tied.
When two students fell ill due to torture, their families were informed. Among them, the boy Rakib Hossain was rescued in critical condition and his family took him to a village hospital in Tangail. The boy is now mentally terrified and unbalanced due to the brutal physical abuse, his family said.
Madrasa students said the injured children begged them not to kill them but the teacher did not like it.
Meanwhile, Ashulia police rushed to the scene when the video of the beating of a child student went viral on Facebook social media yesterday morning. The locals demanded to arrest the teacher and subject him to the law.
Police arrested four people, including teacher Hafez Ibrahim Mia and Hafez Obaidullah, in a night raid.
According to the locals, a local resident named Abdul Jabbar founded Nur Madrasa in Jabal two years ago. Although there were previously 200 students in that madrasa, the students left the madrasa one by one due to torture. There were currently 14 students under the supervision of just two teachers. After the last torture, the parents also took the two children from the madrasa.
Saiful Islam, president of the local Dhamsona Union Parishad, has demanded severe punishment for those involved.
Ashulia (SI) Police Station Deputy Inspector Mohiuddin said the allegation of child abuse was true. The case presentation process is underway under the direction of senior officials.
The SI said people in the area were outraged after the video of child abuse at the madrasa went viral. During the night the two teachers were arrested and handed over to the police.
The police officer in charge of Ashulia (OC) SM Kamruzzaman said that strict measures will be taken against the teachers accused in the incident.
