The first shipment of 12 tonnes of puja special hilsa was exported to India through the port of Benapole on Monday afternoon.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce allowed nine hilsa exporters to export a total of 1,465 tonnes of hilsa.
Khulna-based Jahanabad Sea Fish Limited today exports 12 tonnes of hilsa fish to India. Hilsha is exported to India at a price of $ 10 per kilo.
JK International, an importer from Kolkata, India, imports 12 tons of hilsa.
The last shipment of hilsa fish was exported from Bangladesh to India on October 10, 2019.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Abul Hasan said the Commerce Ministry has granted permission to export 1,500 metric tons of hilsa fish to India this year.
Benapole Customs Commissioner Azizur Rahman said the first shipment of hilsa exports went to India via Benapole port today. Customs officials on the ground have been instructed to expedite the export.
