Bangladesh has summoned the Myanmar ambassador to Dhaka to express concern about the increasing movement of Myanmar troops at the international border between Bangladesh and Myanmar in recent days.

Foreign Ministry officials said a letter was sent to the Myanmar ambassador on Sunday expressing concern over the escalation of such activities in recent days.

The Foreign Ministry says that since last Friday, the number of Myanmar troops patrolling near the international border between Bangladesh and Myanmar has increased. Authorities said a “large number” of troops were present at at least three points along the border. However, officials did not want to call it a military rally.

In this context, Myanmar’s ambassador to Dhaka, Aung Kyu Moe, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Sunday to express Bangladesh’s concerns.

Director General of the Myanmar Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Delwar Hossain said a letter was sent to the Myanmar ambassador expressing Bangladesh’s concern.

What is the cause for concern in Bangladesh?
Typically, if such military patrols increase in the international border areas of the two countries and international law is violated, then the ambassador of the country in question is ‘summoned’ to protest.

But in this case, the military patrols in the international border area have been increased, but no international law has been violated, so the Myanmar ambassador has been called in and his concern has been expressed.

Several officials from the Foreign Ministry said they had received reports that the army patrol was not approaching the international borders of the two countries.

But even then, Bangladesh has initially been concerned that such patrols have not intensified as of late.

Furthermore, as more army patrols have been observed in border areas than usual, officials believe this could be a cause for concern in the future. That is why it has been officially announced.

Here’s one more thing, this part of the Myanmar army patrol has been carried out by civilian vehicles, that is, fishing boats.

And the three points where they are seen are Ka Niun Chua, Min Galargi and Gar Khuia and these places are areas inhabited mainly by Muslims.

Officials consider him a suspect.

This is because if such military patrols increase in Muslim-dominated areas, then fear can spread among Muslims there.

As a result, there is a risk that more people will want to enter Bangladesh.

As a result, taking into account all these issues, Myanmar has been officially informed of its concerns. Source: BBC Bangla
