A couple and a woman have been hacked to death in Shibpur of Narsingdi. Two more people were injured in the incident in the Putia union’s Kumradi village in upazila on Sunday morning. A man named Badal Mia (50) has been arrested in the incident. Police say the three murders were caused by a family dispute.

The deceased were identified as Badal’s wife, Nazma Begum, 40, Ayesha Ali Mollah’s son, Tajul Islam, 55, and his wife Monowara Begum, 45. The injured were identified as Sohag, 15, Younger son of Nazma and Kulsum Begum, 30, daughter of Tajul Islam.

Following the incident, the locals arrested the defendant Badal Mia, beat him and handed him over to the police. Badal, a carpenter by profession, is the son of Ishaq Ali from the Ichakhali area in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj.

Nazma Begum, daughter of the late Abdul Mannan from the East Kumradi area of ​​Shibpur, is known to have married the carpenter Badal 8-9 years ago. Since then, she had been living with her two children in Tajul Islam’s rented house in Kumradi village. A fight broke out between Nazma and Badal around 4:30 am yesterday. At one point, Badal stabbed Nazma and Sechle Sohag and wounded them. Hearing the screams, the eldest son, Nadeem, came from the next room and saw his mother and younger brother lying in a bloody state. As he approached them, Badal came to hit him as well. At that moment Nadeem ran out of the house. Hearing the screams, Badal, the owner of the house, his wife Monowara Begum and their daughter Kulsum came out of another house next door. At one point, Nadeem hit his stepfather on the head and arrested him. He was later beaten and handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, people from nearby houses rushed to the scene and took the injured to Narsingdi Sadar hospital. The doctors on duty declared Nazma and Monowara Begum dead. In critical condition, Tajul Islam, Kulsum and Sohag were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Among them, Tajul Islam died on the way.

A team led by Kasif Sanwar, Inspector of Police and CID Narsingdi Unit, visited the scene.

Shibpur Model OC Mollah Azizur Rahman Police Station said preliminary investigations suggested it was not a premeditated murder. The incident occurred due to a family dispute. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue of the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

CID Inspector Kasif Sanwar said the defendant Badal was in police custody. However, he is being treated at Sadar Hospital for a head injury. Doctors have forbidden you to question him at this time. Then it was not possible to know the details.
