The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized 206 million takai from the bank account of former Cox’s Bazar Township Councilor Jabed Kaiser Nobel.
After seizing Tk 20 crore on September 1, the Bangladesh Postal Department raided the Cox’s Bazar branch on Sunday and confiscated Tk 60 lakh. Deputy Deputy Director of ACC Chittagong office on Sunday noon. A team led by Sharif Uddin carried out the operation.

The investigation found former Cox’s Bazar city councilman Jabed Kaiser Nobel was involved in wrongdoing at the Los Angeles branch. In this context, on September 1, Tk 20 crore was seized from its reputed Basic Bank, Prime Bank, Mutual Trust Bank and Trust Bank Cox’s Bazar. On Sunday, the ACC team raided the Cox’s Bazar branch of the Bangladesh Postal Department and confiscated Tk 60 lakh of their nominal savings. So far, 20 crore 70 lakh rupees have been seized from various Nobel accounts.

The money is known to have been embezzled on behalf of the so-called intermediary (brokerage) in the land acquisition branch. So these bank accounts of the Nobel laureates have been confiscated or the money has been confiscated. Fifteen days ago, the ACC sent letters to various banks from the ACC’s divisional office in Chittagong asking for details of the transactions of 17 people, including Nobel, the head of the ‘Dalal Syndicate’ of the land acquisition branch.
There have long been allegations that the land acquisition arm of the Cox’s Bazar district administration has to collect a commission of 20 to 30 percent from the affected land owners. Otherwise, the innocent owners of the land are handed over year after year. In these jobs, the former adviser used to invest money at a high rate of interest, including the Nobel, up front to pay the commission money of the Los Angeles brokerage or office.
However, former councilman Jabed Kaiser could not be reached for comment, as he could not be reached for comment.
