The Detective Division (DB) learned of this after arresting five people, including Al-Mamun, from the Mirpur area of Dhaka on Saturday night.
Apart from Mamun (41), Sumon Parvez (40), Md. Majid (42), Siddhartha Shankar Sutradhar (32), Anwarul Islam (28).
Among them, Siddharth and Anwarul were employed in subcontracting and worked as data entry operators in the Khilgaon and Gulshan offices under the Election Commission.
According to the DB, 12 double, false and duplicate national identity cards were recovered.
The operation was carried out by the Lalbagh Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police.

DB has learned that Siddharth and Anwarul used to charge between Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000 each for producing false national identity documents.

DB officials said they have helped many like Mamun obtain loans from various banks with bogus NIDs.
