Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that French President Emmanuel Macron is not in a position to give a conference to Turkey.
He recalled the role of France in the Algerian war of independence and the Rwandan genocide.
The Turkey-based Daily Sabah provided such information.
“You (Macron) have no knowledge of history,” he said at an event on democracy and an independent island in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul. You don’t even know the history of France well. Don’t get in trouble with Turkey.
The event was held on the fortieth anniversary of the military coup on September 12, 1970.
Addressing Macron, Erdogan said: “Don’t come to give us a lecture on humanity.”
Earlier on Thursday, Macron called on Europe to unite against Turkey, calling its actions unacceptable.
It is preparing to host a conference of Mediterranean countries in Corsica.
It is expected to discuss the growing tensions with Ankara.
“We Europeans must be tougher and clearer about the government of President Erdogan,” Macron told reporters. His behavior is very unacceptable.
Macron’s call is more against Erdogan than against Turkey. “My problems with you will continue,” he said.
