The BCL district secretary general has been charged with attempting to kidnap a bride from a wedding party at the home of the district Awami League president in Pirojpur city.

On Saturday, Delwar Hossain, president of the Awami League, District 5 of the bride’s father, filed a written complaint with the Sadar Police Station against the BCL district secretary general and his associates.

The incident took place on Education Office Road in Pirojpur on Friday afternoon and the marriage broke up shortly thereafter. The police rushed to the scene and controlled the situation.

Delwar Hossain, president of the fifth district of the Awami League and father of the bride, said the wedding ceremony was held at Delwar’s own residence after Asr prayers on Friday. In the afternoon, a resident of Indurkani upazila from the district arrived at the home of school teacher Barapaksh Delwar with his relatives.

Aniruzzaman Anik, general secretary of the BCL district, entered her home with some terrorists and tried to kidnap her daughter from the event before Akd’s ceremony began.

When relatives and neighbors present at that time prevented him from kidnapping the girl, they threatened her. After this incident, the Barapaksha people who came from the village interrupted the marriage out of fear and went home.

At that time, Aniruzzaman Anik’s friends threatened the bride’s father and said that their daughter could not marry anyone other than Abdul Alim, the son of Abul Kalam.

If I get married, my daughter’s husband will be killed in the living room and my body will disappear and my daughter will be kidnapped. Delwar Hossain informed the leaders of the Awami League, including the municipal mayor of Pirojpur, about the incident.

After receiving the news, a team of police officers from the Sadar police station came to the scene and tried to scare the girl. Even then, Delwar’s family is being bullied.

Awami League district chairman Delwar Hossain further said that he had filed another written complaint with the Sadar police station accusing 20/25 unidentified people, including BCL general secretaries Anik, Abdul Alim and Shaon .

Aniruzzaman Anik, general secretary of the district Chhatra League, denied the allegations of attempted kidnapping of the girl and said that he had gone to speak with a friend about family marriage. But his political opponents are plotting against him over the issue.

Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abdus Sobahan said that the Awami League 5th District Chairman and the bride’s father Delwar Hossain filed a written complaint with the police station. However, the officer in charge of the Sadar police station reported that a decision will be made on the matter.
