Police arrested two more people named Rabiul and Nadeem in connection with the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Wahida Khanam, and his father, the freedom fighter Omar Ali Sheikh in Dinajpur. The arrested Rabiul is a fired employee of the UN office and has attacked the UN, police said.

Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya said at a press conference at the office of the Dinajpur Police Superintendent on Saturday afternoon.

“Many people have been questioned in connection with the attack on the UN in Ghoraghat,” he said. Recently, a person named Rabiul Islam was arrested. He stated that he was involved in the incident. According to his statement, we also recovered some signals. I’m collecting CCTV footage and checking it. ‘

He also said: “Today we will hand him over to the wise court and ask for his preventive detention. We will question him further in pre-trial detention and will try to collect complete information about the incident. Since the matter is still ongoing, I think this is my point so far. We will be able to provide details later when the investigation is complete.

Responding to a question from reporters, he said: “Since the matter is under investigation, it would not be correct to say more than this at this time. We will report everything once the investigation is over.” Hammers have been recovered from used weapons.

They were presented in the court of Dinajpur’s highest judicial magistrate, Ismail Hossain, at 5pm today.

Dinajpur DB OC Police Officer Imam Zafar requested a 10-day pretrial detention for Rabiul Islam. The judge granted him a six-day preventive detention at the end of the hearing. However, the judge ordered Nadeem Hossain Palash to be sent to jail because he did not request pretrial detention.

The investigating officer in the case, Dinajpur DB Police CO Imam Zafar, said: “Rabiul Islam and Nadim Hossain Palash were arrested in the case and brought before the court. The court granted Rabiul Islam a six-day pre-trial detention and he was placed in pre-trial detention on Saturday. Another defendant, Nadeem Hossain, has not been referred.

According to sources in Palash’s family, Nadim Hossain Palash, a night watchman from the UN office, was detained for questioning at the UN office in Ghoraghat on September 3. He has been in police custody ever since. However, the police did not say when or where Rabiul Islam was detained.

The arrested Rabiul Islam (30) is a resident of Dhamahar village in Bhimpur in Biral upazila of Dinajpur. He is a fired employee from the UN office. While working as a gardener at Ghoraghat Upazila, he was suspended in January for stealing money from UNO Wahida Khanam’s purse.

Another defendant, Nadim Hossain Nayan, 28, a resident of Parajpur village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila, has been arrested. He is the night watchman of the Ghoraghat UNO residence.

Meanwhile, Dinajpur DB police handed Asadul Islam, the main defendant in the case, to court this afternoon when his seven-day pre-trial detention ended. Asadul’s statement was not brought to court. Furthermore, the DB police have not submitted a new request for pre-trial detention. As a result, Dinajpur’s Senior Judicial Magistrate, Ismail Hossain, ordered that he be sent to jail.

On September 4, RAB-13 told a press conference at its Rangpur office that Asadul Islam had entered the UN house and carried out the attack. The RAB claimed that Asadul Islam had also admitted it. According to the RAB, Asadul Islam became the main defendant in the case and was held in pre-trial detention for seven days. But, 7 days later, the police say that Rabiul Islam is not Asadul Islam but the main hero of this attack.
