Eight BNP-backed councilor candidates in the last Dhaka city elections have submitted a written request not to nominate HM Jahangir in the upcoming parliamentary parliamentary elections in Dhaka-17 constituency.
They filed the complaint at the party’s headquarters in Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday (September 11).
Eight candidates from 14 general districts in the Dhaka-16 constituency signed a written petition addressed to BNP Deputy Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, alleging collusion with the Awami League against SM Jahangir. Annexes were also attached to the acquittal of SM Jahangir of several cases in collusion with the ruling government.
It is alleged that in the last Dhaka city elections, SM Jahangir and his followers in Juba Dal colluded with the Awami League candidates in all districts. On election day, none of the agents handed over by him for the BNP mayoral candidate went to the center. SM Jahangir took the opportunity to campaign for mayoral candidate Tabitha Awal, but remained inactive on Election Day. কারণে Because of this, he got only 19 wads of paddy votes in his own center.
The letter also included a charge sheet signed by 40 incumbent Chhatra Dal leaders in the Dhaka-17 constituency. There, Chhatra Dal leaders complained to BNP President Khaleda Zia that one of SM Jahangir’s in-laws is the Uttara East League President Thana Awami and the other is Bahauddin Babul, the Jatiya Party leader.
