Rubina Akhter, a fire chief in charge of the fire service’s control room, told bdnews24.com that eight of her units went there Thursday night at 3.20 pm after receiving word of the fire.

“After trying for two and a half hours, the fire was brought under control around 8 am. There were no victims ”.

Fire service personnel said the fire broke out at a clothing factory called Shamser Apparels on the sixth floor of the No. 1 shopping center in Gulshan. However, it is not yet clear how the fire started there.

After the fire broke out, some people in the building were trapped on the roof. Fire service personnel broke the lock to control the fire, entered the market, and then rescued them.

Due to the efforts of fire service personnel, the fire was unable to spread to other floors outside the sixth floor and other parts of the market escaped significant damage.

Rubina Akhter said that traders had reported a loss of 1.5 million taka in the fire. Rescuers were able to remove assets worth around a quarter crore rupees.

When I called Benazir Ahmed, CEO of Shamser Apparels, a Shamser Group organization, to discuss this, it was found to be closed.

According to the Garments Directory, Shamser Apparels, which started in 1999, primarily manufactures knitwear and oven products. About 600 workers work in this export-oriented factory.
