On the night of July 31, Sinha was shot dead by police at the Baharchhara checkpoint near Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. Sinha’s sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, filed a case against nine people in the Cox’s Bazar Magistrates Court on August 5 for the incident. Inspector Baharchhara Investigation Center Liaquat Ali was named Defendant No. 1 and Teknaf OC Pradeep Kumar Das Police Station was named Defendant No. 2.

After the case, seven policemen, including OC Pradeep, surrendered to court on August 8. The other two defendants are fugitives. There are currently 13 people in jail, including the co-defendant in the case. The case is being investigated by RAB. They have detained 13 defendants in the case for various periods and interrogated them. So far, 12 defendants in the case have given confessional statements under section 164 in court. However, one of the accused, OC Pradeep, was held in preventive detention for a maximum of 15 days but did not give a confessional statement.

Regarding the motive for the indictment of Police Superintendent, Plaintiff Sharmin Ferdous said that if the Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent was not included as a defendant in the case, the chances of obtaining justice are very slim.

Early Thursday morning, Sinha’s sister Sharmin and her family members arrived at Cox’s Bazar on a flight. From the airport they went directly to the lawyers’ offices in the courtroom. From there, head to Judge Tamanna Farah’s court.

Meanwhile, a high-level investigative committee formed by the Interior Ministry into Sinha’s murder presented its report on Monday (September 6). However, the ministry has yet to reveal the content of the report.
