Gas leaked from the leak and accumulated in the mosque, and an electrical spark explosion occurred at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on the west floor of Narayanganj. Such information has emerged in the investigation of the last five days of the investigation committee formed by the district administration. A reliable source related to the investigation has confirmed this information. The committee was scheduled to present its report to the deputy commissioner on Thursday (September 10). However, Khadija Tahera Bobby, Narayanganj District Additional Magistrate, Head of the Investigation Committee, requested seven more days to submit a full report.
Deputy Commissioner. Jasim Uddin confirmed receiving the request and said that the deadline for submitting the report to the investigation committee had been extended by another five days.
According to sources related to the investigation, the concrete structure of the West Talla Jame Mosque was built about 15/16 years ago. The entrance door to the mosque had a folding door, two glass doors. The inside of the mosque porch was glued with Thai. Inside the Thai compound, there were 15 windows, six air conditioners, 26 ceiling fans and 60 sockets for switches.
According to the investigation, the power panel board and two distribution lines from the mosque were used. One line of which was valid, the other invalid. One line was used manually and one line was used automatically. Which has come up in the speeches of many, including the testimony of the mosque committee.
Meanwhile, on the day of the incident (September 4), the smell of gas could be found in the mosque since Friday morning. Many of the mosque worshipers left the mosque after performing the obligatory Esha prayers. The power went out around 6:45 pm At that time, many devotees were performing other prayers, including sunnat. The muezzin from the mosque, Delwar Hossain, went to change the power line at that time. As the doors and windows were closed at the time, the fire started due to accumulated gas in the mosque. The bodies of the faithful inside the mosque caught fire.
The investigation also revealed that the number of fires and casualties has increased because the road where the mosque was built is very narrow and low.
Khadija Tahera Bobby, additional district magistrate of the Narayanganj district administration and head of the investigation committee, said that much progress had been made in the investigation. We have received a lot of information. More information remains to be collected and coordinated. After checking and classifying everything, a full report will be sent identifying the actual cause of the explosion. She said it takes seven days to submit a full investigation report. The deputy commissioner extended the inquiry committee for another five days.
When asked what came up in the five-day investigation, the head of the committee said the investigation was ongoing. So no comment can be made. However, he said last Wednesday that the investigative committee of the district administration continues with the investigative work taking into account all the issues, including electricity, Titas gas, defects in the construction of the mosque.
Meanwhile, outside of the investigation, the public is talking about the issues that strict action will be taken, the deputy commissioner said. Jasim Uddin. He said that after receiving the investigation report, action will be taken on the issues within its competence. Letters will be sent to other agencies to take the necessary action.
Meanwhile, the Titas Gas Authority is still working to find the gas leak for the fourth day. A total of six leaks were found in two days after the initial excavation. However, the investigation committee has continued to work to secure more. The public is in extreme anguish because the gas line is closed due to the work of the Titas Gas Authority.
Abdul Wahab Talukder, managing director (planning) of the Titas Gas Investigation Committee, said six leaks were repaired and supply to the closed gas line resumed.
On the other hand, Anisur Rahman, executive engineer of the western division of the energy department, said that among the electrical connections that were disconnected after the explosion, the power supply was restored on Thursday. And the illegal connections are disconnected, he said.
