The BNP has started selling nomination forms since Thursday as part of the process of finalizing the party’s candidates for the four-seat by-election in the National Assembly, which was left vacant due to his death.
Nabiullah Nabi, Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, and Selim Bhuiyan, Director of BNP’s Secretary for Mass Education, have compiled BNP nomination forms for the Dhaka-5 by-elections.
Jatrabari Thana BNP Secretary General Badal Sardar collected the nomination forms on behalf of Nabi Ullah Nabi from BNP Deputy Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi’s lawyer at the party’s office in Naya Paltan on Thursday noon. At that time, director Selim Bhuiyan himself picked up his nomination form.
According to central sources at Naya Paltan BNP, several candidates have bought the forms until 2:15 p.m. Among them are SM Jahangir, Chairman of Mahanagar Uttar from Juba Dal in Dhaka-17 constituency, and Bahauddin Saadi, a young businessman. SS President Jahangir Dakshin Khan Thana BNP Shahabuddin Sagar, Dakshinkhan Thana BNP Secretary General and District Councilor, DNCC Ali Akbar Ali and most of the 6 Thanas Presidents and General Secretaries were present.
Meanwhile, it emerged that Baha Uddin Saadi bought the form with hundreds of leaders and activists in his area.
