Tipu Munshi said that India stopped exporting onions last year, opening the way to import onions from new markets. “The difference between last year and this year is that India stopped exporting onions on September 29 last year. But this time India did not stop. Our traders here have taken advantage of last year’s closing. India also sold onions for 150 rupees.
“There were problems in the area, we may have had more safaris. The good news is that we have learned to import from new markets due to the closure of India. Due to the arrival of onions from Turkey, Egypt and Indonesia last time, our people still have good communication. We have also tendered imports from Turkey through TCB ”.
He said that a letter had been sent to the ministry in question to reduce the tax on onion imports. “Hopefully, the five percent tax will be dropped,” he said.
The minister said that the number of onions found in Myanmar last year is slowing down due to Kovid-19. We want to open all the way. We are trying to import onions as soon as possible. “

Speaking with the Hungarian Foreign Minister, the Trade Minister said: “Bangladesh and Hungary are interested in establishing a joint trade commission to increase investment and trade. They said they would submit a joint business idea proposal within the next week.
“We have said that we will make a decision within a week after submitting the proposal. Hungary has also expressed interest in investing in the food processing industry, water management and pharmaceutical sectors.”
