School opening environment not created: Secretary

Akram-al-Hossain, chief secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said the country has not yet created an environment to open schools and that no decision has been made to open schools.

He told reporters at the secretariat on Wednesday.

Akram-al-Hussein said: “We will sit down with the Ministry of Education and make a decision on this issue.”

“We have informed the school authorities about the guidelines to follow before opening the school,” he said, noting that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education yesterday issued a directive to reopen the school in compliance with public health and hygiene standards in the Kovid-19 situation.

Guidelines include: students, teachers, staff should wear masks, adhere to hygiene rules, no more than two people should sit on a bench, schools should be kept clean and disinfected regularly, school authorities should consider the number of students and teach at one-day intervals if necessary.
