The High Court has accepted the appeal lodged against the release of SI Mizanul Islam in a case brought against the officer of the Gauripur police station in Mymensingh, Halima Khatun, for rape and incitement to suicide. At the same time, the court ordered SI Mizanul to surrender. In addition, the National Court has cited the documents of the case.

Lawyer Chanchal Kumar Biswas was in favor of the appeal in court.

It is worth mentioning that on April 2, 2016, around 3 in the afternoon, agent Halima Khatun set fire to the Gauripur police station barracks by pouring kerosene on her body. Later, her colleagues sent her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He died on the way to Dhaka for treatment.

Later, Halima’s father, Helal Uddin Akand, filed a lawsuit against SI Mizanul Islam from the same police station alleging incitement to rape and suicide. The case alleges that Halima committed suicide after being raped by Mizanul Islam.

Meanwhile, Halima’s father, Helal Uddin Akand, held a press conference after the incident. There he showed reporters some of the writings from his daughter’s diary. Her father mentioned in the newspaper that Mizanul Islam was responsible for her death.

Mizanul Islam was acquitted by the Mymensingh Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children Court on March 9 this year after the prosecution failed to prove the charges under sections 9 (1) and 9A of the Suppression of Abuse Act. Women and Children 2000.

Halima’s father, Helal Uddin Akand, appealed to the High Court against the verdict. After accepting the request for a hearing, the High Court ordered the defendant Mizanul Islam to surrender.
