In Dhaka’s Dhamrai Upazila, a housewife sent her husband to jail three months after their marriage, posing as a Deputy Inspector (SI) of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Police. The incident has caused a stir among the locals.
The incident took place at Baratnagar Mahalla in Dhamrai Township. The detainee was identified as Syed Murad, 30. He is a resident of the village of Hijlia in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.
Police say that three months ago, Syed Murad married a young woman from the Baratnagar area of Dhamrai under the identity of SI of the Manikganj District DB Police. At that time, Murad kept his wife at his father-in-law’s house and tortured her in various ways. Later yesterday when Syed Murad arrived at his father-in-law’s house in the Baratnagar area in a police uniform, his wife suspected him of being a fake cop in his speech. At that time, Murad beat his wife when she wanted to know what police station he worked for. Neighbors came forward and beat Murad at his wife’s scream. Later, the Dhamrai police handed him over to the police.
The abused housewife has demanded severe punishment for her unfaithful husband.
In this regard, the Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Dhamrai Police Station, Deepak Chandra Saha, said that the arrested fraudster had confessed to marrying the girl when he presented himself to the police during preliminary questioning. It is being investigated further. They also recovered the police uniforms used in the scam. He will be sent to court this afternoon after filing a case against the fake police.
