Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally open the Global Center for Adaptation (GCA) Bangladesh Regional Office for South Asia at 3:30 pm on Tuesday (September 6).
In attendance will be Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Board of the Global Center for Adaptation and former UN Secretary General.
This information has been given in the press release of the Ministry of the Environment, Forests and Climate Change. Patrick Varquizen, executive director of the Global Adaptation Center, as well as ministers from South Asian countries, will speak.
In addition, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change will host a press conference after the virtual launch of the Bangladesh Global Regional Adaptation Center. The Foreign Minister will speak. A. K Abdul Momen and Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Shahab Uddin. Later, experts, academics and representatives of global organizations working on South Asian climate change will participate in the GCA South Asian Partnership Forum.
After the round table, Saima Wazed Hossain, Thematic Ambassador of the Vulnerable to Climate Forum will inaugurate the Youth Adaptation Network.
The GCA Regional Center is located in the new Environment Department building in Agargaon, Dhaka. The inaugural function of the Regional Adaptation Center (GCA) in Dhaka has been dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
