Amid the tensions between the two countries in Ladakh, China has spoken out against Arunachal Pradesh this time. Arunachal Pradesh has never been recognized, said a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry.

Recently, members of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) kidnapped five Indian citizens.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian met with questions in Beijing on Monday.

“We have no information on what message the Chinese forces received about the disappearance of five indigenous people in the area,” he said.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry spokesman clarified his position on Arunachal.

Zhao Lijian said that China has never recognized the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. The area is southern Tibet, which belongs to China.

Indian diplomatic experts say China has been raising the Arunachal Pradesh issue since May to monitor ongoing unrest with Chinese forces in Ladakh.

Security analysts have repeatedly warned that new clashes could break out between the two neighbors over Arunachal Pradesh, the epicenter of the 1962 border war between India and China.

China has claimed Arunachal Pradesh as part of southern Tibet from the beginning. Not only that, China strongly opposed Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh in December last year.

Beijing says China has never agreed to recognize Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory. Because this region is actually southern Tibet.

China and India have so far held a total of 21 meetings to resolve the border issue in disputed Arunachal Pradesh. Because the two countries have a border of about three thousand 46 kilometers long.
