Dhaka: The chairman of the University Scholarship Commission (UGC), Prof. Kazi Shahidullah said that the National Research Council, the Central Research Laboratory and the University Teacher Training Academy will be established to ensure quality higher education at university level. and get a place in the world rankings.
The UGC president made the remarks while addressing the first meeting of the 21-member oversight committee on the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Higher Education on Monday (September 6).
The UGC president said that the Strategic Plan for Higher Education 2018-2030 focuses on the problems. This institution can play an effective role in ensuring the quality of education and obtaining a place in the world ranking. Work is underway to determine the structure and nature of these institutions.
Organized in the Zoom Platform, the UGC president further said that the Accreditation Council has already been established in Bangladesh and the National Qualification Framework has been formulated. Various courses and accredited university laboratory activities have been carried out. Its quality will be checked periodically and according to plan. It awaits the valuable advice and cooperation of the organizations interested in the execution of the Strategic Plan for Higher Education.

The director of UGC SPQA welcomed the meeting. Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan and Vishnu Mallick, member-secretary of the Committee and deputy director of SPQA, highlighted various aspects of the implementation progress of the Strategic Plan for Higher Education 2018-2030.
Dr. Alamgir said that to implement the Strategic Plan for Higher Education for 13 years, it must be closely monitored and supervised. In addition, to implement the strategic plan effectively, a strategic plan is needed to ensure the quality of education at the primary and upper secondary level in the country.
He further said that under the strategic plan, the allocation of GDP in the higher education sector should be increased by 2022. In addition, the Strategic Plan has established a goal of 8% of the allocation of GDP in the country’s higher education sector by 2030.
