None of the six BC exploded in the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on the west floor of Narayanganj. Nur Hasan Ahmed, deputy chief director of the fire service investigation committee, said this on Sunday.

Nur Hasan Ahmed said: “None of the six BC in the Baitus Salat Jame mosque exploded. The explosion was caused by a gas leak and a spark of electricity. The casing of each of the six ACs is burned, but everything inside is fine.

After inspecting the site, Ziauddin Ujjal, a member of the CID investigation committee and a police inspector, said the same thing. “The explosion was caused by gas and electricity,” he said. None of the six ACs exploded, nor is it supposed to.

Meanwhile, the district administration, the fire service, Titas Gas, CID and DPDC formed five separate committees to investigate the explosion. The district administration has formed a five-member committee. The investigation committee has started work since Saturday morning. Narayanganj District Additional Magistrate Khadija Tahera Bobby said they were working mainly on the issue of gas and electricity connections.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the mosque explosion has risen further. So far 24 deaths have been reported. The rest are in treatment at the Sheikh Hasina Institute of Plastic Surgery and Burns in critical condition.
