Then, on June 24 of that year, Babul Akhter was taken from his father-in-law’s house in Banasree to the Dhaka Police Detective Office and interrogated. The discussion took a new turn.
Two days later, on June 28 of that year, then-Chittagong City Police Commissioner Iqbal Bahar held a press conference and announced the arrest of Motaleb Mia Wasim and Anwar, who were “directly involved” in the assassination of Mitu.

Wasim and Anwar also made confessional statements in court on June 26. They said that the murder was carried out in the “plan” of Kamrul Islam Sikder alias Musa.
In his statement, Wasim said that Nabi, Kalu, Musa and he “participated in the direct killing” and “stabbed” Nabi and Kalu Mitu. And Shahjahan was watching from a position below a hotel not far from the scene.
On July 1, the police arrested Kamrul Islam Sikder Mushar’s brother, Saiful Islam Sikder Saku, and Shahjahan. Saku was released on bail by the superior court on November 8, 2016.

On June 26, 2016, the police arrested Bhola and his accomplice Monir from the Bakalia area with a 32-point pistol. Later, the police claimed that the recovered pistol was used in Mitu’s murder.
In this incident, the police brought a case against Bhola and Monir under the Gun Law and it was shown that Bhola was arrested in the Mitu murder case.
Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, who was arrested with a weapon, was released on bail in December last year.
Meanwhile, on September 6 of that year, the Interior Ministry issued a notice dismissing Babul from his job.
