Imam Hafez Maulana Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan, 48, of the mosque in Nangalkot, Comilla, who was killed in an air conditioning blast at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque in Fatullah Talla, Narayanganj, told his wife Fahmida Akter before Esha prayers on Friday. So far, 21 people have died in the incident and 18 people have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Plastic Surgery and Burns at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. However, doctors said her condition is also critical.

The deceased was identified as Hafez Maulana Delwar Hossain, son of the late Hafeez Maulana Shafiqur Rahman of Badarpur Madhyapara in the Dhalua Union of Nangalkot. The village house is mourning the death of the father and son.

It is known that Hafeez Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan’s eldest son Jonaid Hossain (18) was a student of the 8th class of New Khanpur Hospital Road Qaumi Madrasa and his second son Hafez Zakaria (13) was a student of Jamia Haji Saiduddin Hafezia Madrasa from the same area. Delwar Hossain had lived in the area with his two children for a long time. The late Hafeez Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan graduated from Hafizia Madrasa, Amlapara, Kalir Bazar and had been the Imam of the Baitus Salat Jame Mosque for the past 25 years.

Speaking with family members at the scene, it emerged that the late Maulvi Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, the father of Hafez Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan, also served as muezzin for the Talla Bara mosque in the same area for 40 years. Hafeez Maulvi Shafiqur Rahman died 6 years ago. According to his father’s workplace, his son Hafez Maulana Delwar Hossain has also served as Imam Kam Muazzim at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque in Talla for the past 25 years. Delwar Hossain’s wife, Fahmida Akhter, lived in a village house with her three daughters Sumaiya Akhter (18), Suraiya Akhter (6) and their youngest daughter Faiza Akhter (3). The eldest daughter, Sumaiya Akhter, is studying in the second year of Dhaliwa Senior Madrasa in Nangalkot. The second daughter, Suraiya Akhter, is a third-class student at the same madrasa. Delwar Hossain’s village house has nothing but land.

Delwar Hossain’s brother-in-law, Jobayer Hossain, told this correspondent at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday that Sheikh Hasina was staying at the Dhaka Burn Unit to receive the bodies of the murdered Delwar Hossain and his son Jonaid Hossain. After receiving the body, the first namaz-e-janaza will be held in the area of ​​the Talla Jame de Fatullah mosque in Narayanganj. They will be buried in the family cemetery after the second namaz-e-janaza at Badarpur in Dhaluwar, Nangalkot on Saturday night.

Dhalua Union Parishad President Nazmul Hasan Bhuiyan Bachir said: “We express our deepest condolences on the death of Hafez Delwar Hossain and his son Jonaid.” In addition, I will continue to provide general cooperation on behalf of the Parishad Union. He also sought the cooperation of higher government authorities to help the defenseless family.

Lamia Saiful, an officer from Upazila Nirbahi, said: “The bodies of Delwar Hossain and her son were buried in their village house. Our condolences go out to the family and we will try to cooperate.”
