Helaluddin Ahmed, chairman of the Bangladesh Administration Services Association and chief secretary of the local government department, said the attack on Wahida Khanam, the Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) officer in Dinajpur, was not a robbery. It is a planned attack.

He said it at a press conference at the Biam Auditorium in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Helaluddin Ahmed said the incident may have been caused by various selfish neighborhoods seeking revenge for failing to lobby illegally.

He said some neighborhoods are spreading propaganda to separate the incident as an isolation and robbery incident. The association believes that this is not a theft case. Because the villains didn’t steal or lose anything. This is a premeditated attack and it can involve many more people.

The organization’s secretary general and the secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Sheikh Yusuf Harun, were present at the time.

It can be mentioned that on Wednesday night (September 2), criminals broke the fan of UNO Wahida’s official residence and entered the house and attacked Wahida and her father. UNO was subsequently rescued in critical condition and admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RAMEC).

After that, his condition was critical and he was taken to Dhaka by helicopter for better treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Hospital of the National Institute of Neurosciences in the capital.
