Narayanganj: The explosion of the air conditioning in the Narayanganj mosque was mainly due to gas coming out of the numerous leaks in the gas pipe that passed under the mosque.
The air conditioner suddenly exploded when gas came out from below while the air conditioner was running in the closed room.
Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy director of Narayanganj Fire and Civil Defense Service, told banglanews on Friday (September 4) after a preliminary investigation.
Abdullah Al Arefin said: “The first thing we thought was that ACs had less electrical involvement with the explosion. Subsequently, it is suspected that gas bubbles rose in the water from the ground. Then it is seen that many Titas gas lines have passed through the bottom of the mosque. Each of the pipes in the line has multiple leaks. The gas from that leak was always rising in the mosque. As a result of closing the mosque before prayers and turning on the ACs, AC gas and line gas are mixed throughout the room. And the nature of gas is that it explodes or burns when it is in a state of explosion or when it comes into contact with a fire. According to that source, the explosion was due to an explosion. They came here quickly after we informed the Titas Gas Authority of the idea and confirmed the matter. They said the explosion was from a gas pipe.
We are still on the scene. I’m working on how to stop this leak and prevent incidents of this type from happening again. Also, I’m also checking to see if there is another source other than the exploding gas. Titas Gas Authority will take steps to repair gas lines.
It can be mentioned that the air conditioning (AC) of the Baitus Salat Jame mosque in the Paschimatalla area of Fatulla in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila exploded around 9:15 pm on Friday. Within moments, panic spread among some 40 people inside the mosque. They tried to leave in a hurry. Among them, 36 have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Plastic Surgery and Burns with Burns.
